Shelby was so
Excited to be home !
After she was done investigation of the house she plopped on the
floor and began rolling and squiggling
all around and playing Peek-A-Boo and doing cute little"doggie talk noises" as if she were trying to talk to
me. 
Such A Happy baby girl !
~~~ Welcome Home Greetings ~~~
Shelby's daddy was the first one home ! And
boy oh boy was she so excited to see him ! She is greeting him with lot's of wiggles and kisses and hugs !!
It was
hard to keep Shelby calm.

I
had to keep a tight hold of Shelby's leash when the boys came home!
Shelby was wiggling and wagging all over
the place, and we needed to keep her calm so she didn't hurt herself. it was just as hard for the boy's to keep themselves
calm as it was to keep Shelby calm.
~~~ About Shelby's injuries ~~~
Shelby's
bones above the knee's on both back legs were fractured. Shelby's left hip was also fractured and required
surgery. I will learn more about the actual surgeries when we visit the doctor.
Shelby appears to be recovering
very well from her traumatic injuries.
Her legs seem to be healing well , but her hip is very fragile and weak.
Basically to my understanding, her hip is just hanging inside there right now and what needs to happen is for the muscle
and tissue to grow around and onto the hip to make it strong again.
We do leg extension
exercises and short walks around the yard, as well as provide her with a high protein diet, to help build up muscle. I
Because her hip is so delicate and fragile, we can NOTallow her to Run, Jump, Climb
Steps, or get overly excited. Shelby loves people and she loves to play, all of which she gets excited and wound up
about. we have to keep Shelby calm, so she does not accidentally wiggle herself the wrong way and re-injure her hip.
So, we have to help Shelby remember her hip is not healed yet, or she forgets and tries to jump and then she is in pain.
Shelby's attitude is 100% pure puppy ! She wants to run, jump, play and be all wound
up, but we will not allow her to until the doctor gives the okay to. We stay calm to help keep Shelby calm, But I just
see it in her eyes she does not understand when she brings a toy to play, why are we all not jumping around also yelling woohoo
go get it, c'mon Shelby let's play. It's very hard for us to interact in a calming way instead of our
usual WoooHooo let's play again kind of way.

The doctor needed to shave shelby so he could perform her surgery to make her feel better.

The doctor had to shave
her on the right side also, to be able to do the surgeries.

UPDATE: This past Friday, Shelby returned for her follow up visit at the doctors. It was all Good
News to hear! The doctor was very impressed with how well Shelby is healing. Shelby has pins in both back legs
above the knees, and No pins in her hip.
Her hip on the left side is really weak and needs to
have the muscle build back up to make it strong again. They removed a piece of bone out of her hip that was shattered and
could not be fixed. Shelby also got clearance from the doctor that it is ok for her to run a little bit in the house, go for
longer walks, and she is to start working on walking the stairs. She is doing 4 steps on her own now, both up and down.
We also got some new therapy exercises to do , that will help build up her muscles on her weak side, and she got the ok from
the Doc to go to the groomers now and get herself fixed up a bit .
~~~ Shelby's Investgation ~~~
Shelby has come
home to many new changes in her yard, things she had never seen before, things looked and smelled differently to her
and this really spiked her curiosity.
Shelby had to investigate it ALL right away !!!
She had never seen the tulips blooming in the flower beds before, nor seen or smelled the lilac's blooming
on the bush, or seen the strawberry plants blooming with flowers, and birds! There are many more birds tweeting
and twerping about from high above in the trees that she hears now. After a thorough investigation of the yard
was done, It was nap time........But Then ..... She smelled something she never smelled before!
The smell of
fresh cut grass was really devouring the air.
The sound of the lawn mower running in the yard was driving Shelby crazy!!
She just had to know what was going on outside in her yard!!! So Quickly......OFF we go outside
to do more investigative work !!!!
Shelby's final conclusion to all this investigating was,: That A Nap
was much more interesting, because all she got from investigating the yard Was ............................................ GREEN
FEET !!!!!

Wow ! Check out this
bone! It is a real Butcher's Smoked Ham Bits shaped into a Bone! WooWee she'll love that. But I think we will
save that for someday after Dinner and Outside !!

Shelby had to stay with a foster mommy for a while after her surgery. While there she gave her physical therapy,medication,and
guess what else? ......
...You Guessed It...TOYS !!! her foster mommy sent
home with shelby her favorite Toy and Bones.....YUM ...shelby loves to chew them bones!!!!

This is a special orthopedic pet mattress....developed
especially for dogs with hip problems and arthritis problems. I hope this will help Shelby get comfortable.
